Vol. 527 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Transport.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

32 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has received a report from the Dublin Transportation Office entitled Long Term Co-ordinated Vision for the Future of Dublin Transport; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27666/00]

I assume the Deputy's question refers to the Dublin Transportation Office's Strategy 2000-16, entitled A Platform for Change. This strategy was launched by the Taoiseach on 2 October 2000. I understand that a copy of the strategy has been circulated to all members of the House.

The strategy provides an overall planning framework for the development of the transport system in the greater Dublin area. The Dublin Transportation Office is currently preparing an implementation plan for the strategy as well as a short-term action plan focusing on the projects to be implemented and the planning work to be brought forward in the period to the end of 2003. The DTO has set out a target of end February for the completion of this work.
