Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

67 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the annual maximum throughput of passengers that can be accommodated safely at Dublin Airport; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27956/00]

Dublin Airport terminal facilities currently have capacity to accommodate an annual throughput of 20 million passengers. This capacity will be more than adequate to facilitate the projected 15 million passengers approximately expected to go through the airport in 2001.

However, as I have already informed the House today, I am awaiting a capacity analysis of Dublin Airport which is being carried out by an international aviation consulting firm, SH&E. The outcome of this report will assist me in making a decision as to whether Dublin Airport needs to be fully co-ordinated.
