Vol. 527 No. 1

Written Answers. - Railway Stations.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

74 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the extent to which the railway station at Maynooth, County Kildare has been upgraded to cater safely for an increased number of passengers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27964/00]

Upgrading works to individual stations and station safety are operational matters for Iarnród Éireann and I have, therefore, no function in the matter. However, I understand from Iarnród Éireann that Maynooth station has been recently upgraded and that the station can safely handle the projected increase in passenger throughput expected as a result of the 100% increase in passenger capacity which will become available on the Connolly – Maynooth line from 2001.
