Vol. 527 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Network.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

115 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a funding application (details supplied) by Wexford County Council for an inner relief route at Enniscorthy, County Wexford will be approved for funding; and if so the date in this regard. [28027/00]

Wexford County Council has recently submitted eight proposals to my Department for funding totalling £2.38 million in 2001 under the EU co-financed specific improvement grant scheme. These applications include two applications for funding of £250,000, respectively, for the Enniscorthy relief road junction scheme and Enniscorthy relief road strengthen scheme.

These applications, together with all other applications under the specific improvement grants scheme will be considered in the Department, having regard to compliance with the eligibility criteria for the scheme, the need to prioritise projects, competing demands from other local authorities and the funds available for the scheme in 2001.

I intend to announce non-national roads grant allocations for 2001, including allocations under the specific improvement scheme of grants, early in the new year.
