Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - Farm Improvement Scheme.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

143 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when pay ment for a slatted shed under the farm improvement scheme will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that he submitted his quality certificate for the slats in December 1991. [28211/00]

The person named joined the farm improvement programme on 1 July 1991. His farm plan under this programme expired on 30 June 1994. During the valid period, an approval issued from my Department to the person to construct a slatted shed. On 13 September 1993, the investment works were found to have been carried out to the required specifications.

However, it is necessary for the person concerned to furnish a number of documents to my Department before the grant application can be processed to payment. The essential documentation comprehends copies of farm accounts for the years ending 30 June 1992 to 30 June 2000 inclusive, together with a quality certificate in respect of slats. In addition, it will be necessary for the person concerned to have his farm plan under this programme extended from 30 June 1994 to a current date.

The person named was informed in writing of these requirements on a number of occasions since September 1993 and more recently an official of my Department contacted him by telephone in regard to the matter. The required documents have not yet been received.

All outstanding payments under the farm improvement programme must issue by 31 December 2000.
