228 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused orthodontic treatment in view of the fact that a private dentist indicated she must have orthodontic treatment at a cost to the family of £2,750; if this complaint can be fully investigated, particularly as the family simply cannot afford such costs. As the provision of orthodontic services for eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of that board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
