Ceist:

231 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of anaesthetists employed at Merlin Park Hospital, County Galway; if there is cover available when an anaesthetist is unable to work; and the plans he has to recruit additional anaesthetists to ensure that no operations are cancelled due to the lack of anaesthetists. The provision of medical services is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this matter and reply to the Deputy directly.
