242 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the success to date of the renal dialysis unit at Mayo General Hospital; if he has received an application for an expansion of the unit which caters for all of County Mayo; if he has considered the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. : The provision of medical services is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. The board has submitted a proposal for approval to expand the renal dialysis service at Mayo General Hospital.

My Department is in the process of establishing a renal strategy group. The proposal from the Western Health Board will be considered in this context.
