Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

258 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in processing a medical card application for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if the card can be issued immediately in view of the medical circumstances of the applicant. [28614/00]

John McGuinness

Ceist:

261 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 181 of 20 June 2000, the reasons a medical card was withdrawn from a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if the card can be reissued immediately. [28617/00]

The issue of determination of eligibility of persons for medical cards is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board, in this case the South Eastern Health Board. I have contacted the chief executive officer on behalf of the persons mentioned by the Deputy in his two questions and asked that he have the matters investigated and that he contact the Deputy directly.
