355 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when he will approve funding for the refurbishment of Ballinasloe swimming pool, County Galway; the reason for the delay in approving such funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28186/00]
Ballinasloe UDC has informed my Department that it proposes to build a new pool on the existing site rather than proceed with its original refurbishment proposal. My Department is currently awaiting receipt of the preliminary report from the UDC in relation to the revised proposal, whereupon it will consider the matter further. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when funding will be approved for the project, as grants are not allocated until such time as tenders for the project have been received.
