Ceist:

360 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when the new programme for local urban and rural development, as administered by a company (details supplied), will be announced; the amount of funding which will be provided nationwide; the funding which will be in place for County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Area Development Management was allocated a total of £116 million to support the activities of partnerships, community groups and selected organisations under sub-programme 2 of the Operational Programme for Local Urban and Rural Development, 1994-1999. Meitheal Mhaigheo, the Mayo Partnership Company, was allocated £3,361,988 under the sub-programme over the period 1995 to 1999.
Under the social inclusion and child care sub-programmes of the regional operational programmes, £228 million has been made available for the local development measure for the period of the National Development Plan 2000-06, to continue the work of area based partnership companies and community groups. This funding will be provided for the partnerships and community groups through Area Development Management Limited, on the basis of the approval of action plans. Allocations are subject to an annual review and the amounts allocated can be increased or decreased on the basis of each group's effectiveness in carrying out its plan.
Under the new local development measure £800,000 has been allocated by ADM to the Mayo Partnership Company for the year 2001. Decisions on funding in 2002-03 will be made in the latter half of 2001.
