Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Pat Carey

Ceist:

395 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science the outcome of his investigations into finding a school place for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 who is now two years out of school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28509/00]

I can assure the Deputy that I am most anxious that a suitable school placement be arranged for the pupil in question as speedily as possible.

My Department's inspectorate has been actively engaged in seeking to arrange such a placement. I understand that a meeting has been arranged with the authorities of a special school with a view to securing the boy's placement in that school as soon as possible.

I am hopeful of a positive outcome to these discussions and I have asked my officials to revert to the Deputy when these discussions are concluded.
