Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

110 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the current position regarding the proposed new pier at Killybegs, County Donegal; the cost of the project; the length of pier to be funded; the time scale for the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28572/00]

Technical planning and design of the development of new berthage facilities at Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre is being progressed as a priority, and the necessary documentation to support an application for planning permission for the development are being finalised. Full details of the development will be available as soon as that application is made.

Subject to all statutory permissions being finalised to schedule, I expect construction work on the development to commence next year, and to take approximately two years to completion.

The estimated cost of this project is of the order of £35 million.
