Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Register of State Properties.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

102 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Finance the progress which has been made to establish a comprehensive register of State properties; and the assessment which has been made to date of the amount of surplus State lands which may be used for housing. [30201/00]

Following the commitment by the Government to estab lish a comprehensive register of State properties and land holdings, my Department issued a questionnaire to all Departments seeking information on lands and buildings in order to determine whether such lands or buildings can be used for housing, education, recreation or other functions for which the State has responsibility. The results of the questionnaire will contribute to the establishment by the Office of Public Works of a register of State property. To date, responses have been received from the majority of Departments and those outstanding have been asked to respond as a matter of urgency.
