150 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the grant available to a wheelchair bound disabled person for adapting a second hand house to make it wheelchair accessible and toward the additional cost when building a new house. [30164/00]
As announced in the budget, the disabled person's adaptation grant has been effectively increased to a maximum of £16,000 where works commenced to the house on or after 6 December, 2000. A special grant of up to a maximum of £10,000 was also introduced, to assist disabled people in making necessary modifications to a new house.
