Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Policy.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

167 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has established a cross Departmental team on housing; the membership of this team; the number of occasions on which it has met. [30200/00]

As indicated in reply to Question No. 130 of 8 November 2000, a cross-departmental team on housing was established to secure an appropriate expansion of housing supply in line with the National Development Plan 2000-2006 and the further Government measures contained in Action on Housing. The main focus of the team is currently on the implementation of the various Government measures set out in Action on Housing and with a particular emphasis on identifying and addressing constraints or bottlenecks to securing maximum housing output in the short and medium term. The team is chaired by the Secretary General of my Department with representation by senior officials of my Department and the Departments of the Taoiseach, Finance, Education and Science, Enterprise, Trade and Employment, and Public Enterprise. The team has met on three occasions to date and presented its first progress report to the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure on 26 October.
