Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Housing.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

172 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the total amount of additional funding for social housing which was provided in Budget 2000; and the amount by which the revised estimate for 2000 is to be underspent. [30206/00]

Additional funding of £11.85 million was provided for social housing measures in budget 2000. This amount included an extra £5.7 million for the disabled persons and essential repairs grants schemes; an extra £5 million over two years, 2000 and 2001, for hostel facilities in Dublin for homeless persons with drug and alcohol addiction problems; an additional £1 million towards expenditure by the special task force for the elderly and an additional £150,000 for the Irish Council for Social Housing.

As final outturn figures will not be known before the end of the year it is not possible, at this stage, to indicate the level of underexpenditure-overexpenditure on social housing measures in the revised Estimates for 2000.
