Ceist:

182 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the discussions which have taken place with other bodies and agencies in respect of the development of the site at Newtown House, Leixlip, County Kildare with particular reference to the provision of library and leisure/recreational facilities and a Garda station; the degree to which agreement has now been reached in regard to the future needs of each of the sectors involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A report by Kildare County Council in relation to the acceptance of a tender for the construction of a branch library at Leixlip, County Kildare, has been received by my Department. Clarification of a number of issues in the report has been sought from the council and their reply is awaited.

In relation to the provision of a Garda station and leisure-recreational facilities at Leixlip, I refer the Deputy to Questions Nos. 503 and 588 of 26 January 2000.
