Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Residency Status.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

228 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the permission to which he referred in his answer to Parliamentary Question No. 217 of 7 December 2000, arises from a final determination of the person's application for residency status, or applies only until such determination is made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30158/00]

As I explained in my previous reply on this matter, the person in question was recently granted permission to remain on the basis of his parentage of Irish born children. A number of standard conditions are attached to this permission and these were set out in the letter granting him residency. The person in question should now register with his local Garda registration office in order to be issued with a Garda registration book and to have the necessary endorsement placed in his passport.
