257 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the total moneys expended by his Department or any office under the aegis of his Department in respect of public relations costs in the past three years; the public relations firms involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods)

The strategic policy unit of my Department incurred expenditure of £25,979 in 2000 for public relations services provided by Slattery PR, in connection with the National Reading Initiative. No expenditure was incurred in 1998 and 1999 in this regard.
