Vol. 531 No. 4

Written Answers. - Shared Ownership Scheme.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

186 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of applications for school ownership made to each local authority in the past 12 months; his view on whether there is a need to increase the rent subsidy of the school in view of the rise in inflation and the cost of housing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6216/01]

Information on the level of activity under the shared ownership scheme is available in my Department's housing statistics bulletins, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. Figures for the year to September 2000 have been published and figures for the final quarter of 2000 are currently being compiled and will be published shortly. I understand major improvements to the eligibility income limits and subsidy levels under the shared ownership scheme in June last. I do not propose to introduce further amendments to the scheme at this stage, but I will keep the terms of the scheme under review.
