46 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has yet brought the report of the Medical Manpower Forum to Government; when he expects a decision from Government on its recommendations; when it is intended to publish the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 59 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Health and Children if the report of the Medical Manpower Forum which reflects the needs of a fair and efficient system is dependent on brokered acceptance by powerful medical interests. [5511/01]
I propose to answer Questions Nos. 46 and 59 together.
I will bring a memorandum to Government on the Medical Manpower Forum report within the next few weeks. I will seek the Government's approval to have the report published and for the steps which will need to follow on from there. Subject to Government approval I will publish the report as soon as possible.
Any change programme of the scale proposed in a report of this kind would, in the normal course of events, require agreement with the staff interests concerned. The position in relation to this report is no different in this respect.
