Vol. 532 No. 2

Written Answers. - Company Lay-Offs.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

111 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his attention has been drawn to the imminent lay-offs at a company (details supplied) in County Tipperary; the amount in grant aid which went to this company or its parent company; and if any of the State grants in question were expressly related to employment numbers or job creation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7187/01]

I have no reason to believe that there are lay-offs imminent at the company concerned. I understand that State grants totalling £1.79 million have been provided to the company. Some of these grant payments were made on satisfactory achievement of employment targets.
