181 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the total advertising expenditure incurred by his Department and all State bodies and agencies under the aegis of his Department for the year 2000; if he will specify each entity's expenditure on television advertising during that year; and the spend on Irish language television advertising by each entity during the year. The total advertising expenditure incurred by my Department and all State bodies and agencies under its aegis for the year 2000 was £814,470.55. There was no expenditure in relation to television advertising during that year.
This expenditure relates to advertising costs on such matters as recruitment, tender competitions, availability of funding under national development plan, raising of awareness on particular issues, information on legislation, provision of accommodation for asylum seekers, invitations to make submissions to review groups and information regarding holiday opening and closing times of the Department's offices.
