I propose to take Nos. 186 and 187 together. The Garda states that crime statistics are compiled on the basis of Garda operational areas, which do not always coincide with geographical areas.
The Garda state that the Garda Districts of Ballyfermot and Lucan approximate to the areas referred to by the Deputy. The number of murders, detections and convictions for the years 1996-2000 for the Garda Districts of Ballyfermot and Lucan are set out in the following tabular statement.
