233 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the provision of extra facilities, identified as being urgently required at St. Patrick's post-primary school, Naas, County Kildare; the degree to which planned works meet in full or in part the total required facilities at present; the precise extent of the proposed extended facilities; the expected date by which same are likely to be provided and ready for use; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An extension of 1,097 mf7>2 for St. Patrick's post-primary school, Naas, and a refurbishment of the existing school had been agreed in principle with County Kildare Vocational Education Committee. Officials of my Department are currently in discussions with the school's management authority, County Kildare VEC to determine the most appropriate manner to progress this project.

234 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position in regard to the provision of extra facilities and places at St. Mary's college, Naas, County Kildare; the extent to which the full requirement is being met in the course of ongoing renovations; the degree to which further facilities are or will be required; when it is expected that the full requirement will be met; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An extension project with a floor area of 1,372 mf7>2 at St. Mary's college, Naas, County Kildare has been completed. The overall accommodation will cater for an enrolment of 800 pupils which is considered to be adequate for the school's long-term accommodation requirements.

235 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the provision of extra facilities required at Scoil Ignáid Rís, Naas, County Kildare; the full extent of the extra facilities now required and proposed; the expected completion date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department's planning and building unit has approved the stage 1, site suitability, briefing and site report, in relation to the proposed extension at Scoil Ignáid Rís, Naas, County Kildare. The school's management authority has been advised that it is now in order to prepare stage 2, outline sketch scheme.

The floor area of the new accommodation, as agreed with the school's management authority, is 2,881 mf7>2 and when added to the existing accommodation will give an overall floor area of 6,698 mf7>2. This is considered adequate for a long-term enrolment of 800 pupils.

At this early stage it is not possible to say when the extra facilities will be provided.

236 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the extra facilities at Maynooth post-primary school, Maynooth, County Kildare; the full extent of the facilities now proposed; the expected completion date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7209/01]

My Department's planning and building unit is currently awaiting the submission of the stage 2, outline sketch scheme, documentation from County Kildare Vocational Education Committee in respect of the proposed extension, with a floor area of 1,795 mf7>2 which includes a number of general and specialist classrooms and a physical education hall at Maynooth post-primary school.

At this early stage it is not possible to say when the extra facilities will be provided.
