33 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will outline the progress to date in the establishment of a commission on teaching, having regard to his commitment of 1 February 2001; the outstanding issues to be dealt with; and when he expects to be in a position to formally announce the establishment of the commission. There has been no formal announcement on the establishment of a commission on teaching. However, I have indicated that I would favour a commission on education and learning for life which would have a broad and supportive remit and I am developing proposals in this regard. Work on the terms of reference and the membership of the commission is still at an early stage.
