Vol. 532 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Parks.

Tony Killeen

Ceist:

136 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the acreage owned by the State comprising the Burren National Park, the amount of this which has been acquired since 1997 and the plans she has to acquire further lands for the park. [7335/01]

The Burren National Park, County Clare, contains a total of 1905.882 hectares. Since 1997, there have been two land purchases. A total of 3.932 and 228.95 hectares were purchased in 2000 and 2001, respectively. Should land suitable for incorporation in the national park be offered for sale at a reasonable price, my Department will consider its acquisition.
