Vol. 532 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

159 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science if, in view of the special circumstances, the current staffing levels may be retained at a school (details supplied) in Dublin 9, with an expected intake of 60 junior infants in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7290/01]

The staffing of primary schools is determined by reference to the enrolment of the school on 30 September of the previous school year. This is in accordance with guidelines agreed between this Department and the education partners. The staffing schedule for primary schools in the 2001-02 school year has not yet been finalised.

As soon as the schedule is finalised, a circular will issue to the board of management of each primary school. On receipt of this circular, the board of management of the school in question may wish to contact officials in the primary payments section of my Department regarding the staffing for the 2001-02 school year.
