Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Business Name.

John Gormley

Ceist:

121 Mr. Gormley asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has received representations from a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 in relation to the registration of a domain name (details supplied) as a business name; her views on whether such a name should be registered under the Registration of Business Names Act, 1963; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7692/01]

I have no record of having received representations from the person indicated on that matter. Similarly, the Registrar of Business Names has informed me that no application to register the business name supplied has as yet been received by him. I have no views on whether such a name should be registered under the Registration of Business Names Act, 1963. This would be a matter for the registrar to address. However, I understand that he would have concerns about the registration of a business name which primarily consists of the word, Ireland.
