129 Mr. Penrose asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason, further to her Parliamentary Questions No. 120 of 10 May 2000 and No. 75 of 14 June 2000, no contact has been received from the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs on the application of the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1934; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Further to my previous reply to Deputy Penrose on this matter, I understood that a local officer from the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs would be in contact with the Deputy and his constituent to discuss the range of assistance, if any, to which the Deputy's constituent would be entitled. Clearly, it appears this did not happen and I am at a loss to explain why. However, I have now ensured that the requisite contact takes place immediately.
I want to take this opportunity to re-emphasise that the Department cannot identify where responsibility for the Workers Compensation Act rests as it is not legislation which we administer.
