221 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if an increase in payment to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow under the early farm retirement scheme will be made in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7510/01]
No increase is due in the rate of pension under the scheme of early retirement from farming which is fixed by the EU regulation under which the scheme was introduced. However, the person named is entitled to a compensation payment in respect of the reduction in pension during 2000 that arose from the introduction of the euro in January 1999. This compensation will be paid at the end of March 2001.
