Written Answers. - Official Engagements.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

228 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the functions he or his Ministers of State have attended in Dublin north in 2000; the announcements which were made; the persons or group that invited a Minister of State to a recent function (details supplied); and if he will publish the invitation list to this function. [7686/01]

I did not attend any function in north Dublin in 2000. The Minister of State, Deputy Davern, attended the following functions in Dublin North constituency in 2000: 1 February, Grand Hotel, Malahide, presentation of An Bord Glas Garden Centre Quality Awards; 29 February, Skerries community centre, official opening of an IT centre in the community centre; Teagasc offices, Corduff, Lusk, presentation of Teagasc certificates to graduates of computer training for farmers and growers course.

With regard to the recent function in question, the Minister of State, Deputy Davern, launched the schemes of investment aid for the development of the commercial horticulture sector, the potato sector and grain storage on farms at a function in St. Maur's GAA Club, Rush, County Dublin on Tuesday, 13 February 2001. The venue was chosen in view of its proximity to major horticultural activity in north Dublin and was attended by local growers, farming interests, media, local politicians and Department staff. I have arranged for the invitation list to this function to be forwarded to the Deputy.

The former Minister of State, Deputy Ned O'Keeffe, attended the following function in Dublin North constituency in 2000: 20 December, Swords, officially opened O'Scanaill pet centre.
