254 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 433 of 30 January 2001, he will indicate when the necessary arrangements will be put in place to pay farmers appropriate compensation in respect of reductions in payments under the farm retirement scheme during the year 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. These compensation payments, which relate to reductions in payments during 2000 arising from the introduction of the euro in January 1999, will be paid at the end of March 2001.
