Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Ceist:

529 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will allocate additional policing to Fatima Mansions as part of the regeneration of that estate. [7710/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources to individual areas, that the Fatima Mansions complex is currently patrolled on a daily basis by two community gardaí from Kilmainham Garda station. This patrol is augmented by local detective, drug and community policing units and divisional crime prevention and task force units.

I am further informed that Garda management is satisfied that the arrangements currently in place at Fatima Mansions are adequate in meeting the present policing needs of the area.

Garda manpower assigned to Fatima Mansions, together with overall policing arrangements and operational strategy, is continually monitored and reviewed. Such monitoring ensures that optimum use is made of Garda resources, and the best possible Garda service is provided in the area.
