Ceist:

567 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has plans to instruct chief superintendents to address the local authorities in their area of their responsibility on policing development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8251/01]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue):

I am informed by the Garda authorities that in the course of the chief superintendents' participation on the county development boards, they will engage in discussions with other board members, including local authority representatives, on all relevant aspects of policing.
