Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

628 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make a statement on a matter (details supplied); and if he will ensure that the work now proceeds. [7675/01]

Architectural planning for a building project at the school referred to by the Deputy is proceeding as quickly as possible, having regard to the large number of school building projects in hand within my Department. My Department has recently been in contact with the board of management regarding this matter.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

629 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will expedite the new community school project (details supplied) in Lismore, County Waterford, in order that construction can commence in summer 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7676/01]

The design team responsible for the planning of the new community school to which the Deputy refers was requested to revise its stage 4-5, detailed design and bill of quantities, submission. A revised submission was required to have been lodged in my Department no later than 19 February 2001. Unfortunately, the documentation was not received until 9 March 2001. The documentation is being examined, currently. As soon as this examination is complete, and if found to be satisfactory, the matter of inviting tenders for this project will be decided.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

630 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation with regard to the provision of a new boys' school in Rathmore, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7718/01]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works is acting on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally and is currently exploring the possibility of acquiring a suitable site for the boys school in Rathmore. The school authorities will be kept advised of developments.
