Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

641 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will have investigations made into the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny could not be facilitated with school transport; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7806/01]

I understand that the difficulty to which the Deputy refers was only recently brought to my Department's attention. I am pleased to advise the Deputy that the pupil in question has been accommodated on a special transport service with an escort on board. In addition, in order to defray some of the costs previously incurred in the provision of private transport for the child in question, my Department has approved a transport grant for the period when private transport arrangements were made.
