Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Ceist:

661 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 129 of 8 February 2001, he will again review the school transport scheme in view of the circumstances outlined; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8000/01]

The position generally is that remote area grants are payable to families living in remote areas, who are attending and reside at least two miles from their nearest appropriate school and the nearest service to that school.

An application for a remote area grant was made by the family in question. However, as the pupils are not attending their nearest appropriate school they are not eligible for grant aid.
