Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Immigration Policy Advisory Committee.

John Perry

Ceist:

98 Mr. Perry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the way in which the immigration policy advisory committee is effective; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7148/01]

The immigration policy advisory committee was set up in July 2000 and its function is to provide an input into evolving immigration policy from a labour market perspective, to monitor the experience and outcomes of policy implementation, to advise on areas of research which need to be undertaken and on initiatives and directions which might be suggested by the outcomes of such research The committee comprises representatives of the relevant Departments and agencies, together with representatives of the social partners. I am satisfied that it is proving to be a useful consultative forum.
