Vol. 535 No. 2

Written Answers - Boards of Management.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

126 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress to date in the establishment of fully representative boards of management in all schools; the outstanding difficulties which exist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12325/01]

Following a detailed process of facilitation, arrangements for the composition of boards of management were revised in the case of primary schools some years ago. The revised arrangements were subsequently implemented across the sector.

A model of board composition for comprehensive schools has recently been forwarded to the interested parties for their consideration with a view to having revised board structures in place in those schools.

It is proposed to progress in a consultative manner any outstanding issues that exist in relation to board composition in other second level schools.
