Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Ceist:

247 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the provision of facilities required at St. Patrick's post- primary school, Naas, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12556/01]

The extension and refurbishment of St. Patrick's post-primary school, Naas had been agreed in principle with the school's management authority, County Kildare VEC.

Subsequently, officials of my Department have been in discussions with County Kildare VEC to determine the most appropriate manner to progress this project.

Further information is at present awaited from County Kildare VEC before this project can be progressed.

248 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the provision of permanent facilities for Scoil Ui Riada, Kilcock, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12557/01]

Gaelscoil Uí Riada is currently accommodated in the former Christian Brothers monastery in Kilcock and it will remain in this location until a new building on an alternative site has been provided.

While architectural planning has been initiated, it is not possible at this early stage to say when construction will commence until the site issue has been resolved and architectural planning has been completed.

249 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans he has in regard to the provision of extra facilities at Rathmore national school, Naas, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12558/01]

Architectural planning is progressing for the provision of a new eight-classroom primary school at Rathmore, Naas, County Kildare.

However, it is not possible to give any indication as to the timetable for the provision of the accommodation.

The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
