58 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has yet established the promised advisory committee on deaf education; and if he will provide details of the its composition including the level of representation from the deaf community. [12310/01]
Arrangements for the establishment of an advisory committee on the education of hearing impaired children are nearing completion in my Department. I expect to make a further announcement on this matter in the very near future. The committee will be representative of the various interests involved in the education of hearing impaired, including the deaf community.
My Department will be contacting the parties in question in the coming week to invite their participation and seek their nominees to the committee. It is intended that the committee will commence its work as soon as possible after the nominations have been received.
