Written Answers - Child Protection Plan.

Ceist:

81 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to publish the national child protection policy action plan; the impact it will have on existing youth organisations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12159/01]

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods):

Child protection guidelines for use in the voluntary youth work sector were drafted by the National Youth Work Advisory Committee at my request. The guidelines are currently with the legal section of my Department for examination and will be published as soon as possible.

The NYWAC has also been entrusted with the task of preparing a training programme-plan for the implementation of the guidelines by the voluntary youth organisations. I anticipate that the committee will report to me as soon as it has finalised its deliberations.
