107 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of hours of inservice training provided by the Department and taken up by teachers at both primary and second level for the years 1999, 2000 and 2001; and the distribution across subject areas. [12332/01]
The number of participant hours for the primary and second level areas for the years 1999 and 2000 are given in the following table. There is an element of estimation in the figures for 2000 as the data are not yet fully analysed and in the breakdown of figures between primary and second level for 1999 and 2000 as some of the training programmes involved are cross-sectoral.
