Vol. 535 No. 2

Written Answers - Teachers' Remuneration.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

125 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will clarify the situation regarding teachers' pay and the appropriate increment for teachers who have been working for many years as either TWT or EPT and who finally secure a full-time teaching post; and if any recognition is given when determining the appropriate increment to the number of years as either EPT or TWT. [12267/01]

Teachers employed in a fully qualified temporary wholetime, TWT, or eligible part-time, EPT, capacity advance on the common basic scale for teachers each year.

When a teacher is appointed to a permanent wholetime post, all service given by the teacher in a fully qualified TWT or EPT capacity is recognised for the award of incremental credit purposes. Full credit is awarded in respect of TWT service. In the case of EPT service, the credit awarded is pro rata to wholetime service.
