Ceist:203 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Education and Science if Dún Laoghaire Youth Service will be mainstreamed for funding purposes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14369/01]

The youth affairs section of my Department provides grant-in-aid financial assistance for Dún Laoghaire Youth Service under the special projects for youth scheme and the young people's facilities and services fund. Dún Laoghaire VEC acts as the grant administering agency and funding in respect of special projects is sent directly to the VEC.
I understand that the Deputy is referring to youth services provided by a voluntary group, outside the Dún Laoghaire VEC provision. No formal application for grant assistance has been made to my Department by that group.
