Vol. 536 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Investigations.

John Perry

Ceist:

94 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) was subject to a recent inspection during the foot and mouth restrictions; the person or body which authorised the inspection; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14370/01]

During the course of the FMD crisis, my Department has received and continues to receive information by various means and from a variety of sources. Some of the sources are known to the Department while others have elected to remain anonymous. All calls/information received are treated seriously and are followed up. The investigation in question was undertaken on foot of information received and nothing was found to suggest any illegal activity.
