Vol. 536 No. 4

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

120 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance if he will list areas of the country that have been identified as suitable for decentralisation; the timescale for such projects; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14382/01]

Work on the development of a new programme of decentralisation is continuing and no decisions have yet been taken. Until such time as all aspects of the programme have been considered, including those relating to the centres to be included, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the likelihood of any area of the country being included. In view of the range of issues which need to be taken into account before a Government decision can be taken, I cannot, at this time, say when an announcement on the new programme is likely.
