Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Coveney – the need for a new Garda station and to improve facilities available to gardaí in Carraigaline, County Cork; (2) Deputy Olivia Mitchell – the urgent need to clarify the status of electricity assisted bikes in respect of tax and insurance; (3) Deputy Michael Moynihan – the matter of group sewerage schemes and the necessity to increase this grant from £1,600 per person to £6,000 in line with group water schemes; (4) Deputy Jim Higgins – the ongoing failure of the Department of Education and Science to make available the necessary specialist teaching resources for a 13 year old who only has the reading age of an eight year old; (5) Deputy Kirk – the need to reconsider the compensation levels paid to depopulated sheep farmers in the Cooley Peninsula, particularly in view of the serious lack of income prospects confronting producers in the area in the next year or two; (6) Deputy Belton – the urgent matter of staffing at Longford casualty unit which now appears as a crisis situation; (7) Deputy Conor Lenihan – the need for legislation to deal with the problems caused by transient Travellers; (8) Deputy Seán Ryan – the need to reconsider the decision to construct a new parallel runway at Dublin Airport; (9) Deputy McCormack – the proposal for the future development of Clifden community school, County Galway; (10) Deputy Owen – the provision of a new school building for Malahide community school as pupils will have to be refused entry next year; (11) Deputy Connaughton – the issue of licences to bookmakers with particular reference to the suitability criteria in the context of the rules and regulations laid down for the commencement of a bookmaker's business.

The matters raised by Deputies McCormack, Seán Ryan, Kirk and Connaughton have been selected for discussion.
